Our Story: A Legacy of Faith, Growth, and Community
Holy Trinity Catholic School has been a cornerstone of faith and education in Comstock Park since 1870. What began as a humble, one-room schoolhouse on Alpine Church Road has grown into a vibrant learning community. Rooted in strong traditions of faith and academic excellence, the school continues to evolve to meet the needs of its students while staying true to its Catholic mission.
For more than 150 years, Holy Trinity has remained a place where generations of families have come together, building a legacy that continues to grow with each passing year.
In those early days, students gathered in a simple space, guided by faith, strong values, and a commitment to learning. As the surrounding community grew, so did the school. New buildings were added in 1901 and again in 1923, each one reflecting the dedication and sacrifice of parish families who believed deeply in the importance of Catholic education and the formation of their children.

These early expansions laid the foundation for the strong, faith-filled community that still defines Holy Trinity today, creating a place where families feel connected, supported, and united in their commitment to Catholic education.
During the early 1900s, Holy Trinity was more than just a school—it was the heart of the parish community. Families were deeply involved, often making sacrifices to ensure their children received a Catholic education. The school became a place where faith was lived daily, both in the classroom and beyond.
Religious sisters and dedicated teachers played a vital role in shaping the school’s identity during this time. With a strong commitment to faith, discipline, and academic excellence, they helped form not only educated students, but faithful young people rooted in Catholic values.

By 1930, the original school building had served its purpose and was transformed into a rectory—an early sign that Holy Trinity was always adapting and making the most of what it had.
This spirit of flexibility and growth has remained a constant throughout the school’s history.
One of the most defining moments in our history came in 1965, when an F4 tornado caused significant damage to the school. Despite this hardship, the Holy Trinity community remained strong. Students temporarily attended St. Adalbert School, and just one year later, a new building opened in 1966—still serving as the heart of our campus today and a symbol of resilience and faith.
This moment stands as a powerful reminder of the strength and unity of our school family.
The decades that followed brought continued growth and innovation. By the early 1990s, the school had expanded to include four split classrooms, and in 1992, kindergarten was added—welcoming even younger learners into the Holy Trinity family. In 1993, a major expansion introduced a Family Center, gymnasium, and additional classrooms, creating more space for both academic and community life. Further renovations in 2000 continued to enhance the campus and support a well-rounded educational experience.
Each addition has helped shape a campus that supports both learning and community in meaningful ways.
In 2020, Holy Trinity Catholic School proudly celebrated its 150th anniversary, marking a century and a half of shaping young minds and nurturing strong faith. Today, we are honored to be one of the oldest Catholic schools in West Michigan.
This milestone was not only a celebration of the past, but a reminder of the strong future ahead.
While much has changed since 1870, our mission remains the same: to know, love, and serve God in all we do. Holy Trinity continues to provide a strong academic foundation within a faith-filled environment, welcoming families from both rural and urban communities. Our students are encouraged to grow in their God-given talents, participate in meaningful activities, and become compassionate leaders who carry their faith into the world.

Faith, family, and education continue to guide everything we do, shaping both our daily experiences and our vision for the future. Today, Holy Trinity Catholic School offers a well-rounded education that nurtures the whole child—academically, spiritually, and socially—through strong curriculum, faith formation, service opportunities, and a close-knit community environment.
Looking ahead, Holy Trinity remains committed to growth. Plans for the future include a new media center, updates to campus facilities, and bringing preschool and kindergarten fully onto the main campus—ensuring a seamless and connected experience for all students.

These improvements reflect our commitment to providing the best possible environment for future generations—one that supports learning, strengthens faith, and fosters a strong sense of community.
From one small classroom to a thriving school community, our story is still being written—and we are grateful for every family who is part of it. Each student and family helps carry on our tradition of faith, learning, and community, bringing new life and energy to our halls each day and contributing to the legacy of Holy Trinity.
As we look ahead, we are excited to continue growing, enhancing our programs, and welcoming new families, all while building on the strong foundation that has guided us for over 150 years and will continue to lead us into the future.
